Z36.1 RIVER-GOD EUPHRATES
|Museum Collection||Gaziantep Museum of Archaeology, Gaziantep|
|Date||C1st - 2nd A.D.|
This portrait of the river-god Euphrates depicts him as a green-haired and bearded god adorned with, and surrounded by, river-reeds and blooming flowers. The two horn-shaped objects beneath his chin are probably cornucopiae (horns of plenty).
