SUMMARY

Detail of Apollon from a painting depicting the birth of Dionysos. The god is shown in the guise of the god of Delphoi, holding a laurel branch and wearing a laurel-wreath. He stands beside the head of Zeus, presumably prophesizing the destiny of the new-born child Dionysos.
