TEREINE was a Naiad Nymph of the River Strymon in the land of the Triballoi of Thrake (north of Greece). She was loved by the god Ares and bore him a daughter named Thrassa.

Her name meaning she who pierces (like a sword), is somewhat appropriate for a consort of the war god.
