KHREMETES (or Chremetes) was a River-God of western Libya (modern Libya).
The only other major North African river personified by the Greeks was the Neilos (Nile).
Nonnus, Dionysiaca 13. 378 ff (trans. Rouse) (Greek epic C5th A.D.) :
"[Krataigonos and his Libyans joined the army of Dionysos in their campaign against the Indians :] Their masses came led by Krataigonos, whom Ankhiroe daughter of Khremetes brought forth on her father’s riverbank in that shortlasting union with Psyollos the harebrained; the bridegroom she held in her arms was the gods’ enemy."
