DESCRIPTION
The god Dionysus (Roman Bacchus) stands on the flanks of Mount Vesuvius. He is clothed in a cloak of giant grapes, and holds a thyrsus staff and wine cup in his hands. A large serpent coils amongst the foliage in the foreground.
