DESCRIPTION
Detail of Hermes from a painting depicting Zeus despatching the divine messengers Iris and Hermes. It is probably an illustration of a scene from the Iliad. Hermes holds a herald's wand (kerykeion) and wears winged boots, a petasos cap and traveller's cloak (chlamys).
