DESCRIPTION
Queen Pasiphae of Crete receives the wooden cow from the craftsman Daedalus. The queen is seated on a throne and attended by a young handmaiden and an elderly woman, probably her nurse, named Trophos. Daedalus, on the far right, holds a saw and other carpentry tools. Beneath the queen's throne Eros, the winged god of love, pierces the head of the wooden cow with an arrow of desire.
